Level test
Find your English level
A short test of grammar and vocabulary places you on the CEFR scale, from A1 to C2. It has 8 to 40 questions and no timer.
You don't need an account to take it. At the end, sign in with Google to save your level.
What the test checks
Grammar and vocabulary: choosing the right word or form, filling a gap, typing a short answer. It does not test listening, speaking or writing, so the result is an estimate of part of your English, not a certificate.
How it works
The test comes in short parts of 8 questions, one question per screen. Every test starts at A2. When you get most of a part right, the next part is one level harder; when a part goes badly, the test stops and your level is the last one you passed, or A1 if that was the first part. That is why it takes some people 8 questions and others 40. There is no timer, you can stop and come back (a test ends 24 hours after you start a part without checking it), and an "I don't know" button saves you a blind guess.
What you get
Your level from A1 to C2, what it means in plain words, and how you did in each part. We use it to suggest materials at your level. Afterwards you can look through your answers with the correct ones and a short explanation for each question.

Questions
Do I need an account?
Not to take the test. To save the result, yes: at the end, sign in with Google and your level, your answers and the date are saved to your account. You can save a result for 24 hours after the test; an unsaved guest test is deleted after two days.
Can I take it again?
Yes, 14 days after you started the last one. Each time you get questions you have not seen yet, as far as the question bank allows.
Can my level go down?
No. If a later test comes out lower, we show you the result, but your level stays where it was.
Does my teacher see my test?
Not your answers or scores: they are shown to no teacher and no other learner. The teacher of a group you are in sees your confirmed level and how it was set, and can raise it.
