Everyday words: English by topic

Some words turn up in almost every sentence: the most common verbs and simple adjectives. At A1 they are kept apart from the other topics, because every one of those topics needs them. The verb set has the most frequent ones: to go, to come, to have, to know, to want, to need, to understand. In the adjective set the words come in pairs of opposites: big and small, good and bad, cheap and expensive, easy and difficult, fast and slow. Pairs are easier to learn: one word helps you remember the other. Do these sets right at the start, before the sets on particular topics. With them it is easier to make your first sentences about yourself, your home and your work.
