B1 Intermediate
English at B1 (Intermediate)
B1 is the first step of the independent user. A learner understands the main points of clear speech on familiar subjects such as work, study and leisure. They can deal with most situations while travelling, talk in a connected way about what interests them, describe events, experiences, hopes and plans, and briefly give reasons for an opinion. They can read straightforward texts on everyday and work subjects and follow how events and feelings are described in a personal letter.
Our B1 materials deal with adult life: renting a flat, money and banking, work and careers, studying, travel, health and sport, feelings and personality, and crime and the law. Phrasal verbs appear, along with the second part of the irregular verbs. The exercises cover first and second conditionals and the choice between the present perfect and the past simple. If you can already get by in English but often have to search for words, this level is for you.
