A2 Elementary
English at A2 (Elementary)
At A2, a learner understands sentences and common expressions about things close to them: themselves and their family, shopping, work and where they live. They can handle simple everyday situations that need a short, direct exchange, such as buying a ticket, asking the way or arranging to meet. In simple words they can describe their past, their surroundings and what they need right now. They can read short, simple texts such as a personal letter or a timetable, and write short notes and messages.
Our A2 materials carry on with everyday topics and add new ones: cooking and the kitchen, appearance, health and illness, hobbies and sport, work, phones and the internet, shopping and clothes, and transport. The grammar covers the past simple and the first part of the irregular verbs, comparatives and superlatives, and some, any, much and many. This level suits learners who know the basics and want to talk about daily life with more confidence.
